Atul Kumar Babubhai Patel, a 58 year old diabetic, was in ICE custody at the Atlanta City Detention Center when he tragically passed away in early May.

In the last year alone, there have been 10 known deaths of people in ICE custody.

We will gather Thursday to honor the life of Mr. Patel as well as to call for the permanent closure of the Atlanta City Detention Center.

We gave an interview on Voices of Dissent radio show discussing our upcoming vigil for Atul Patel, and the prospect for abolition of the police and prisons. The interview starts at 33:30

If you’re in Atlanta, please join us for a candlelight vigil and speak out in front of the Atlanta City Detention Center on the evening of Thursday, July 6th.
